Strict personal protection is especially important in epidemic prevention and control, and proper wearing of protective gear can effectively reduce the risk of being infected. So, how should all types of epidemic prevention personnel be protected? The following are some tips from the Guizhou CDC.

1. Epidemiological investigators

(1) When investigating close contacts: wear disposable work caps, medical surgical masks or N95/KN95 medical protective masks, work clothes, disposable gloves, and maintain a distance of more than 1 meter from the investigated subjects.

(2) for suspected, confirmed cases and asymptomatic infections when investigating: it is recommended to wear disposable work caps, N95/KN95 medical protective masks, overalls, disposable gloves, protective clothing, protective face screens or goggles, work shoes or rubber boots, boot covers, etc.

2. Staff in the fixed admission isolation ward

It is appropriate to wear disposable work caps, KN95/N95 medical protective masks, work clothes, disposable gloves, protective clothing, protective face screens or goggles, work shoes or boot covers, etc.

3. Medical isolation observation site staff

(1) in the work preparation area and other clean areas: disposable N95/KN95 medical protective masks or medical surgical masks, wearing work clothes.

(2) when entering the public area of the isolation area and other potentially contaminated areas: wear medical surgical masks, disposable gloves, wear overalls or isolation clothing, N95/KN95 medical protective masks when necessary.

(3) when entering contaminated areas such as isolation rooms or in close contact with isolated personnel: wear disposable work caps, N95/KN95 medical protective masks, disposable gloves, protective clothing, protective face screens or goggles and boot covers.

4. Cases, close contact and transfer of asymptomatic infected persons

(1) staff: wear disposable work caps, disposable gloves, protective clothing, N95/KN95 medical masks, protective face screens or goggles.

(2) driver: wear overalls, N95/KN95 medical protective masks, disposable gloves. Transfer as far as possible when using negative pressure ambulance, cab and carriage strictly sealed isolation. If there is no corresponding isolation conditions, the driver wears a disposable work cap and protective clothing on top of the above protection.

(3) Transferred personnel: wear N95/KN95 medical protective masks and disposable gloves.

5. Environmental cleaning and disinfection personnel, medical waste disposal personnel and sanitation workers

(1) Disinfection personnel in contaminated areas: disposable work caps, disposable gloves and long-sleeved thickened rubber gloves, overalls, protective clothing, N95/KN95 medical protective masks, protective face screens or goggles, work shoes or rubber boots, boot covers, waterproof aprons or isolation suits are recommended.

(2) Preventive disinfection personnel in non-contaminated areas: it is recommended to wear disposable work caps, disposable gloves, work clothes, protective face screens or goggles, work shoes or rubber boots, etc.

6. Nucleic acid specimen collection personnel

Wear disposable work caps, disposable gloves, N95/KN95 medical masks, protective clothing, protective face screens or goggles. In specific cases, wear isolation clothing and shoe/boot covers on top of the above protection.

7. Laboratory staff

Wear N95/KN95 medical protective masks, disposable gloves, isolation suits, protective clothing, protective face screens or goggles, and shoe covers/boot covers.

8. Traffic card points, community card points and other personnel

Wear overalls, disposable work caps, disposable gloves, medical surgical masks. Use N95/KN95 medical protective masks when necessary.

9. Imported cold chain food production, handling, sales staff

It is appropriate to wear work clothes, disposable work caps, disposable gloves, medical-surgical masks and masks of the above protection level.

10. Community volunteers

(1) Volunteers engaged in nucleic acid sample collection: protection in accordance with nucleic acid collection personnel.

(2) Volunteers engaged in nucleic acid sample collection site order maintenance and other auxiliary work: protection according to nucleic acid collection personnel.

(3) Volunteers engaged in material distribution and other related work in medium and high risk areas: N95/KN95 medical protective masks, disposable work hats, gloves, isolation suits for those who do not enter the building, protective clothing and protective face screens or goggles for those who enter the building.

(4) Volunteers engaged in material distribution, order maintenance and other related work in low-risk areas: it is recommended to wear disposable work caps, disposable gloves, isolation suits, medical surgical masks and masks of the above protection level.
